POLITCIAL CRISIS| ACF Blasts Politicians for Jumpstarting 2027 Campaigns, Demands Focus on National Crisis

The Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) has lashed out at self-serving politicians already jostling for power in the 2027 general elections, accusing them of abandoning their core duty of governance while Nigerians reel under the weight of bloodshed, poverty, and collapse of public systems.

At its National Executive Committee meeting in Kaduna, ACF Chairman Mamman Osuman blasted the political class for focusing on future campaigns while terror attacks, land conflicts, and economic despair devastate citizens, particularly in the North.

“The people are dying, but our leaders are busy calculating votes for 2027,” Osuman said in outrage. “We must speak truth to power—our nation is in crisis, not campaign mode.”

He cited recent terror attacks in Plateau and Borno, the killing of northerners in Edo, and an unresolved boundary conflict between Kogi and Enugu States as signs that Nigeria is bleeding while politicians chase ambition.

Osuman compared the needed leadership to that of Martin Luther King Jr., Indira Gandhi, and Nelson Mandela—figures who placed the people above politics. He condemned the worsening cost of living, healthcare failure, and skyrocketing transport costs as a betrayal of the citizens’ trust.

“The country doesn’t need empty promises; it needs action, safety, and dignity,” he warned.

The ACF also demanded that the National Boundary Commission act swiftly to prevent further land disputes and violence. “Those who claim they want a better Nigeria must first obey its laws and serve its people,” Osuman concluded.

Nigeria is burning—and some politicians are already dancing towards the 2027 ballot box.
