PRESIDENCY DEFENDS TINUBU’S ECOWAS LEADERSHIP

Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Media and Public Communications, Sunday Dare, has stated that under Tinubu’s Chairmanship as the leader of Economic Community of West African States, the regional bloc is returning to the essence of its founding mission, the seamless integration of the West African sub-region.

Dare said this critical objective which has faced significant challenges and setbacks in the past, is now being vigorously pursued with renewed determination and strategic focus.

The Presidential aide stated this in an interview with State House Correspondents, on the two-year tenure of the Nigerian Leader, President Tinubu, as the leader of the Economic Community of West African States.

He highlighted that President Tinubu’s election as a two-term Chairman of ECOWAS reignited a sense of hope and momentum across member states, marking the beginning of a transformative process aimed at fostering unity, economic collaboration, and sustainable development within the region.

Following the development, the President of Sierra Leone, Julius Bio, emerged as his successor. Before handing over, President Tinubu expressed concern over the slow pace of activating the ECOWAS Standby Force and urged West African leaders to move quickly from concept to reality in the collective fight against terrorism and transnational crimes.
