President Bola Tinubu has addressed the nation on the occasion of the 63rd Independence Day anniversary.
The president further announced a N25,000 wage award to low grade workers in the civil service, as part of measures to cushion the impact of the fuel subsidy removal policy.
He made the pledge as part of his Independence Day Broadcast to the nation, where he noted that the salary increase will last for a period of six months.
Commenting on the crisis facing Nigerians and the proposed indefinite strike by members of organised Labour, President Tinubu said he was attuned to the hardships being experienced by Nigerians.
The President went further to state that “reform may be painful, but it is what greatness and the future require.
He said that other efforts were being taken by government to touch all aspects that would impact directly on the lives of Nigerians to ease the pains of the new economic reforms.
The president said that on the issue of transportation, a cheaper and safer Compressed Natural Gas buses would be deployed across the country.
