Former Nollywood actress Regina Askia has expressed her views on the ongoing defamation suit involving legal expert Femi Falana and social critic Martin Otse, also known as Very Dark Man (VDM). Askia asserts that Falana has every right to pursue legal action or settle the matter as he sees fit. However, she believes that the core issues that led to the defamatory remarks are being overlooked.
On October 14, an Ikeja High Court ordered VDM to delete his defamatory posts about the Falana family and instructed that the lawsuit be served through his lawyer, Deji Adeyanju. Following the ruling, misleading reports circulated online claiming that the court had imposed a N500 million fine on VDM, which prompted Askia to question the authenticity of such claims on her Instagram. She highlighted the absence of accountability for those involved in the controversial audio tape released by VDM.
In response to criticism from VDM’s detractors, Regina defended her stance, arguing that VDM is being scapegoated while the significant issues raised in the audiotape are being ignored.
