A Chief Magistrates’ Court in Life Camp, Abuja, on Monday discharged a 25-year-old security guard, Sani Ibrahim, who was accused of stabbing a man and causing bodily harm.
The police had charged Ibrahim, a resident of Galadima, Abuja, with causing hurt.
Chief Magistrate Musa Jobbo discharged the defendant after the prosecution, led by Mrs. Charity Nwachukwu, applied to strike out the case due to lack of interest by the complainant, Muhammad Mohammed.
“The defendant is hereby discharged and the First Information Report (FIR) is withdrawn,” Jobbo ruled.
Earlier, Nwachukwu told the court that the case was reported at the Karmo Police Station on July 4. The complainant had alleged that the defendant borrowed his cellphone to make a call but refused to return it. In the ensuing dispute, Ibrahim allegedly stabbed him in the shoulder.
The prosecutor noted that the alleged offence contravened Section 246 of the Penal Code.
