Today 19th February, 2025, the Catholic Bishops Conference of Nigeria (CBCN) appointed Very Rev. Fr. Dr. Augustine Okochi the Deputy Secretary General of Catholic Secretariat of Nigeria, CSN , Abuja
Rev. Fr. Augustine Okochi, a priest of the Catholic Diocese of Awka was ordained in 1993 and he studied at the Catholic University of Leuven, Belgium, where he secured a Master’s degree in Religious Studies and a Licentiate in Theology. He also studied at Fordham University New York, United States of America, where he obtained a Doctorate in Educational Administration, Supervision and Policy.
Before now, Fr. Augustine Okochi has served as the Rector of St. John Bosco Seminary, Isuaniocha, in Awka diocese, from October 2010 to December 2018. On January 1, 2019, he was appointed by the Catholic Bishops Conference of Nigeria (CBCN) to serve as Education Secretary at the Catholic Secretariat of Nigeria, Abuja. In August 2022, he was elevated to the position of Director of Pastoral Agents Department and charged with supervising the Laity, Seminaries, Youth, Clergy and Religious Units of the Catholic Secretariat of Nigeria (CSN).
With Fr. Okochi’s appointment as the Deputy Secretary-General of the CSN, he now combines this with his former function as the Director of the Pastoral Agents Department.
