Rotimi Amaechi Urges Nigerian Youths Not to Relocate

Former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, has urged Nigerians planning to relocate to other countries in search of greener pastures to rethink their decisions.

According to the former Rivers State governor, Nigeria is a country abound with numerous opportunities where an ordinary citizen can become a minister or governor overnight.

Amaechi noted that other countries abroad can guarantee high-paying jobs but opportunities in them are with slim chances.

The former governor disclosed this when giving advice to Nigerians on the backdrop of the mass exodus to the developed world, a syndrome termed ‘japa’.

Meanwhile, The British Council in Nigeria has increased the fee for its English Language Testing System (IELTS) examinations to N139,000.

In an official notice on its website, the British Council noted that the new fee for both the Computer Academic and General Training Modules will take effect from February 1, 2024.

The British Council attributed this adjustment to the rising costs associated with conducting the examinations.

The notice further explained that the change in price is a response to the increased costs of delivering the exams.

This latest increase comes just five months after the previous adjustment in September 2023 when the fee rose from a range of N80,000 to N90,000 to the current N107,500.

The British Council also expressed gratitude to applicants and emphasised their commitment to providing valuable services.
