Russia Detains Six Suspects Over Planned Attacks in Moscow, Tyumen

Russian authorities have detained six individuals suspected of plotting armed attacks on educational institutions in the cities of Moscow and Tyumen, according to local media reports on Thursday.

The arrests came in the wake of a nationwide preventive and awareness campaign led by the Federal Security Service (FSB), aimed at countering the spread of extremist ideologies and mass violence, particularly among youth.

According to RIA Novosti, searches conducted at the suspects’ residences uncovered components for improvised explosive and incendiary devices, bladed weapons, detailed attack plans, and materials associated with neo-Nazi and terrorist organizations.

Beyond the foiled plots in Moscow and Tyumen, the FSB also revealed that related investigations uncovered additional violent plans in the cities of Kemerovo, Rostov-on-Don, and Yoshkar-Ola.

The FSB reiterated its commitment to disrupting networks that promote mass violence and self-harm, particularly those targeting vulnerable young people through online platforms.

Authorities say investigations are ongoing, and the suspects remain in custody.
