Schools Resume in Anambra State After Yuletide Holiday/Vop

Schools across Anambra State have resumed academic activities following the Christmas and New Year holidays.

During a monitoring visit to schools in Awka and surrounding areas, the Chairman of the Anambra State Universal Basic Education Board (ASUBEB), Dr. Vera Nwadinobi, confirmed that academic activities have commenced in earnest.

At Ezi Awka Community Primary and Secondary School, Awka, students were seen cleaning their classrooms, clearing accumulated dust, and participating in resumption tests administered by their teachers. The Principal of the secondary school, Mrs. Eucharia Ogbunyi, and the Headmistress of the primary school, Mrs. Beatrice Umeh, reported that teachers, pupils, and students have fully resumed. However, they highlighted challenges such as the need for fencing, gating, and enhanced security measures to prevent intrusions into the school premises.

Similarly, at Aguoji Primary School in Ifitedunu, Dunukofia Local Government Area, teacher attendance was commendable, although pupil turnout remained low.

Dr. Nwadinobi, who assessed teacher resumption rates at both schools, emphasized the importance of dedication to duty. She urged teachers to serve as role models and make lasting impacts on their students, especially in light of the state government’s efforts to provide a conducive learning environment.
