Community leaders in Ngaski Local Government Area of Kebbi State have commended Senator Abubakar Atiku Bagudu, Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, for facilitating the rehabilitation of a critical road corridor that links Kebbi and Niger States.
The praise centers on the ongoing repair of the 76.5-kilometre Malando–Ngaski–Wara–Auna Road, a route described as vital to both economic activity and national integration. The road serves as a strategic connector between Northern and Southern Nigeria and has long been plagued by neglect and disrepair.
Rehabilitation work, spearheaded by the Federal Ministry of Works, officially commenced on January 28. Leaders and residents in the region have since expressed appreciation for what many described as a long-overdue development milestone.
“Impossible Dream Turned Reality”
Alhaji Mamuda Mohammad-Warra, former Kebbi State Commissioner for Lands and Housing, praised Sen. Bagudu’s efforts, describing the project as a once “impossible dream” now being realized through visionary leadership.
“The long-awaited Malando–Ngaski–Wara–Auna road is finally taking shape under the leadership of Sen. Abubakar Atiku Bagudu. His inclusive and selfless approach to development across ethnic and regional lines is exemplary,” he stated.
He also extended gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for prioritizing infrastructure in Kebbi State, stressing that the region’s economic fortunes hinge on the quality of its road network.
“There’s no way the economic fortunes of Northern Nigeria can improve with dilapidated roads,” he added.
A Beacon of Economic Revival
Former Chairman of Ngaski LGA, Alhaji Abdullahi Buhari-Warra, echoed similar sentiments, calling the road project one of the most significant infrastructure achievements in the region.
“This road, once a symbol of neglect, is now a beacon of economic revival,” he said. “So far, the contractor, Epsilon Sky Global, has scarified and cleared over 55 kilometers. Asphalt is being laid on a primed stone base, and rigid reinforced concrete pavement is under construction with shoulders on both sides.”
He noted that the improvements have already had a tangible impact:
“Travel time has been cut by more than 50%, and incidents of accidents and vehicle breakdowns have significantly declined. We also commend the contractor for their professionalism and speed.”
Community and Contractor Speak
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that motorists and residents echoed the leaders’ praise, crediting Sen. Bagudu’s collaboration with federal authorities as a clear demonstration of President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda in action.
“As the road nears completion, we are filled with gratitude and prayers for the leaders driving such progress,” said one driver interviewed at the site.
Alhaji Hussaini Abubakar, Project Manager at Epsilon Sky Global, reaffirmed the company’s commitment to delivering high-quality work within schedule.
“We’ve set up a modern project yard equipped with advanced machinery and a skilled workforce to ensure timely execution. This aligns perfectly with the Renewed Hope Agenda for critical infrastructure and inclusive growth,” he explained.
He also acknowledged the collaborative efforts of President Tinubu, Governor Nasir Idris of Kebbi, Minister of Works David Umahi, and Sen. Bagudu, assuring stakeholders of the company’s dedication to meeting all contractual obligations.
