Pastor David Ibiyeomie, founder of Salvation Ministries, has asserted that Jesus Christ was strongly against poverty and deliberately avoided associating with poor individuals during His time on earth.

Addressing his congregation, Ibiyeomie emphasized that Jesus’ death and resurrection were not only for spiritual salvation but also meant to free believers from the grip of poverty.
According to him, continued poverty after embracing Christianity indicates a lack of proper spiritual understanding.
“Jesus never visited any poor person’s house—check your Bible,” he said. “He visited Lazarus, who wasn’t poor, and Zacchaeus, a wealthy sinner. He hates poverty—that’s the message.”
The pastor added that while it is acceptable to come to Christ in a state of lack, it is not acceptable to remain that way.
