Super Eagles’ FIFA Ranking Sparks Reactions — See Position

Abuja — Nigeria’s Super Eagles have slipped one place to 45th in the latest FIFA/Coca-Cola Men’s World Rankingreleased for September.

According to the ranking table published on FIFA’s official website, Nigeria accumulated 1,483 points, a slight drop from the 1,484 points recorded in July.

During the review period, the Eagles played five matches: they drew once against South Africa, won two matches (1–0 against Rwanda and 2–0 against Congo), but lost twice (4–0 to Sudan and 1–0 to Senegal).

On the African continent, Nigeria ranks sixth, behind Morocco, Senegal, Egypt, Algeria, and Côte d’Ivoire.

Globally, Spain climbed to the top spot, displacing Argentina, who had held the number-one position since April 2023. This marks Spain’s first return to the summit since 2014.

The biggest movers were Slovakia, rising 10 places to 42nd, while over 200 international matches played worldwide since the last ranking significantly reshuffled the order.
