Super Eagles’ World Cup Hopes Hanging by a Thread – Lagos FA Boss Insists Nigeria Will Bounce Back

With Nigeria’s Super Eagles struggling in the FIFA 2026 World Cup qualifiers, doubts are growing over the team’s ability to secure a ticket to the global tournament. However, the Chairman of the Lagos State Football Association, Olawale Liameed, remains optimistic, insisting that the team will fight back despite their current poor standing.

Speaking to the News Agency of Nigeria on Thursday, Liameed urged fans not to lose hope, claiming that the Super Eagles can still “work their socks off” to clinch the top spot in Group C. But with tough competition from South Africa, Benin, Zimbabwe, Rwanda, and Lesotho, many football enthusiasts remain unconvinced.

Nigeria’s lackluster performance so far has sparked frustration among fans, with critics blaming poor tactics, uninspired gameplay, and leadership issues within the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF). Some analysts argue that mere optimism is not enough, demanding urgent changes to prevent another embarrassing World Cup qualification failure.

As the battle for qualification intensifies, the big question remains: Can the Super Eagles defy the odds, or is Nigeria heading for another football disaster?
