China has expressed support for the United States’ peace proposal aimed at ending the Gaza conflict, urging both sides to agree to an immediate and comprehensive ceasefire and ensure the release of all detainees.
Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakan, speaking on Tuesday, reaffirmed Beijing’s commitment to efforts that promote de-escalation between Israel and Palestine.
“China upholds the principle that Palestinians should govern Palestine, and strongly supports the implementation of a two-state solution,” Guo stated.
The peace plan, unveiled by U.S. President Donald Trump, outlines 20 key measures. Among them are the swift release of hostages held by Hamas in exchange for hundreds of Palestinian prisoners, and Israel’s withdrawal from the Gaza Strip. The territory would then be administered by a transitional government of Palestinian technocrats under the oversight of an international committee.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu accepted the proposal on Monday.
China, as a permanent member of the United Nations Security Council, emphasized that it will continue to support all initiatives aimed at achieving lasting peace in the region.
