The Covenant International Model United Nations (CIMUN) is a student-led conference organized by Covenant University in Ota, Ogun State, Nigeria. It was established in 2018 to provide a platform where students can simulate the activities of the United Nations, debate global issues, and develop skills in diplomacy, leadership, and public speaking.

Since its creation, CIMUN has been held annually and has continued to grow in participation and influence. Students from different universities and secondary schools take part as delegates, representing countries and discussing important global challenges such as climate change, international security, human rights, and economic development. Through committee sessions and debates, participants work together to propose solutions to these problems.

Over the years, CIMUN has become more than just a simulation conference. It now serves as a platform that encourages youth leadership, critical thinking, and awareness of global development goals such as the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The conference also provides opportunities for networking, collaboration, and leadership development among young people.

A major milestone occurred during the 2025 edition, when the United Nations Association of Nigeria inaugurated its first university youth chapter at Covenant University. This development strengthened the connection between CIMUN participants and global diplomatic institutions.

In summary, CIMUN has grown from a small academic initiative into an important platform that prepares young people for leadership and international engagement. By promoting dialogue, diplomacy, and global awareness, the conference continues to inspire students to contribute positively to society and the international community.
