Those Plotting to Rig Abia Election Should Write Their Wills

Umuahia, Abia State — Governor Alex Otti has issued a stern warning to anyone plotting to manipulate or rig the Abia State governorship election, saying such individuals should prepare their wills before attempting it.

Otti, who made the statement during a public address in Umuahia, vowed that his administration would not tolerate any form of electoral malpractice, stressing that Abia’s political landscape has changed and that the will of the people must prevail.

“Those planning to rig the Abia governorship election should first write their wills,” Otti warned. “We will not allow anyone to subvert the people’s mandate. The era of stolen mandates is over in this state.”

He reaffirmed his commitment to free, fair, and transparent elections, emphasizing that Abians have endured decades of manipulation and deserve a process that reflects their genuine choice.

Otti also called on security agencies and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to ensure strict compliance with electoral laws and protect the integrity of the ballot.

“Let the votes count. Let the people decide who leads them. That is the only way democracy can truly work,” he added.

Political observers say Otti’s statement is a direct message to political actors allegedly mobilizing to influence future elections through illicit means.

The governor urged the youth to remain vigilant and defend their votes peacefully, insisting that Abia’s democracy will no longer be hijacked by corrupt politicians.
