Atiku and Obi have continued to challenge the legitimacy of the 2023 presidential election, questioning Tinubu’s qualifications and the transparency of the electoral process. However, their legal challenges were dismissed by both the Presidential Election Petition Court and the Supreme Court, which upheld Tinubu’s victory.
The opposition has also raised concerns about alleged misconduct involving Tinubu’s son, Seyi Tinubu. Peter Obi labeled the allegations “troubling,” calling for accountability, while Atiku urged the president to restrain his family members from actions that could damage his administration’s image.
Despite the growing criticism, Tinubu has chosen not to directly engage, possibly to maintain focus on governance and national issues. With talk of a potential opposition coalition ahead of the 2027 elections, it remains to be seen whether the president will address these matters more openly in the future.
