President Bola Tinubu has expressed deep sorrow over the death of Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi, the esteemed Bauchi-based cleric and leader of the Tijjaniyya Muslim Brotherhood, who passed away on Thursday.
In a statement released by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu described Sheikh Bauchi as a moral compass whose life was dedicated to teaching, preaching, and fostering peace.
The President noted that the loss of Sheikh Bauchi is profound, extending beyond his family and followers to the nation as a whole. He recalled the guidance and moral support he personally received from the cleric during the run-off to the 2023 elections.
โSheikh Dahiru Bauchi was a teacher, a father, and a voice of moderation and reason. As both a preacher and a distinguished exegete of the Holy Quran, he championed peace and piety. His passing leaves a significant void,โ President Tinubu said.
Condoling with Sheikh Bauchiโs followers across Nigeria and beyond, the President urged them to honour his legacy by embracing his teachings of peaceful coexistence, deepening their relationship with God, and demonstrating kindness to humanity.
Renowned for his scholarship and advocacy of moderation, Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi leaves behind a lasting legacy in religious education and community leadership.
