President Bola Tinubu on Wednesday chaired the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting at the State House, Abuja, marking the fourth session in 2025 and the 25th since his administration began on August 28, 2023.
Ahead of the meeting, the council observed a minute’s silence in honor of two former ministers—Chief Edwin Clark, who passed away on February 17, 2025, at age 97, and Mrs. Adenike Oyagbola, Nigeria’s first female minister, who died on February 28, 2025, at age 93. Clark served as the Federal Commissioner for Information in 1975 under General Murtala Mohammed, while Oyagbola was Minister of National Planning from 1979 to 1983.
The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, had earlier announced that council members would reconvene for Wednesday’s session.
At its last meeting on Monday, the FEC approved several key policies, including the licensing of 11 new private universities, a ₦2.5 billion satellite surveillance system to curb illegal mining, and ₦734 billion for the dualization of the Oyo-Ogbomoso Road in Oyo State.
