President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Thursday swore in Bernard Doro and Kingsley Udeh as new ministers of the Federal Republic of Nigeria during a brief ceremony held at the State House, Abuja, shortly before the commencement of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting.
Bernard Doro, from Plateau State, replaces Nentawe Yilwatda as Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction. Yilwatda resigned recently following his emergence as the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC). Doro’s nomination had been confirmed by the Senate in late October.
Kingsley Udeh, on the other hand, takes over as Minister of Science, Innovation and Technology, succeeding Uche Nnaji, who resigned from the cabinet. The Senate confirmed Udeh’s appointment earlier on Thursday after a brief screening session. Before joining the federal cabinet, Udeh served as the Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice in Enugu State.

During the FEC meeting that followed the swearing-in ceremony, the council observed a minute of silence in honour of two prominent Nigerians who recently passed away — Solomon Ewuga and Abdullahi Mohammed Adangba.
Ewuga was a former Minister of State for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) under President Olusegun Obasanjo, and also served as Deputy Governor of Nasarawa State, Senator for Nasarawa North, and Ambassador to Angola.
Adangba, who died at the age of 86, served as Chief of Staff to Presidents Olusegun Obasanjo and Umaru Musa Yar’Adua, and was widely regarded as a respected statesman and experienced administrator.
Present at Thursday’s meeting were Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume; Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Didi Walson-Jack; Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila; National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu; and several cabinet ministers.
The swearing-in ceremony and council meeting underscored President Tinubu’s continuing efforts to strengthen his cabinet and ensure effective implementation of his Renewed Hope Agenda across key sectors of governance.
