Tinubu Sends Heartfelt Condolences After Deadly Air India Crash

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has expressed deep sorrow over the tragic crash of an Air India flight that went down shortly after takeoff from Ahmedabad, killing over 240 people. The flight, bound for London, was carrying 242 individuals, including passengers from India, the UK, Portugal, Canada, and 12 crew members. Only one person is confirmed to have survived.

In a statement released by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu extended heartfelt condolences to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the government, and the people of India.

“The tragedy of Air India reminds us of the fragility of life and the shared bonds of humanity. At this moment of pain and loss, Nigeria stands in full solidarity with our Indian brothers and sisters,” Tinubu said.

The president also extended sympathies to the families of the victims, as well as to the governments of the UK, Portugal, and Canada—nations that also lost citizens in the disaster. He offered prayers for the deceased, the injured, and all those affected by the crash.

The incident marks the first fatal accident involving a Boeing 787 Dreamliner. Investigations are underway involving Indian aviation authorities, Air India, Boeing, and international safety agencies.
