The All Progressives Congress in Oyo State has expressed confidence in President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, stating that his performance in office shows he is capable of leading the country beyond 2027.

The party made this known on Sunday in a congratulatory message marking the president’s 74th birthday, praising his leadership and reform efforts over the past 34 months.

In a statement issued in Ibadan, the state capital, the party’s Publicity Secretary, Olawale Sadare, described Tinubu as a leader with the competence and vision to reposition Nigeria.

“He has demonstrated the capacity, competence, and character required to fix the country and set it on the path of greatness, stability, and prosperity,” the statement read.

Second-term support

The party reiterated its commitment to Tinubu’s second-term ambition and the full implementation of his Renewed Hope Agenda.

“We are proud of him as a courageous, passionate, and result-oriented leader who means well for Nigeria and Nigerians,” the APC added.

Fake list warning

In a related development, the party cautioned the public against circulating unverified information regarding candidates for the 2027 general elections.

It dismissed as false reports suggesting the emergence of party candidates, particularly for the Oyo governorship race, warning those behind such claims to desist.

“Just a few days ago, we had cause to dispel the unfounded rumour about the emergence of a gubernatorial candidate for our party in the state for the next general election,” Mr Sadare said.

He added that the party had launched an investigation into the circulation of a fresh list of purported candidates, describing it as fake, deceptive, and capable of causing confusion.

“As it stands now, we do not have any aspirant or candidate list for 2027 because it is not yet time for the expression of interest, nomination, and party primaries,” he said.

The development comes amid increasing political activities and early alignments ahead of the 2027 general elections.
