President Bola Tinubu has suspended the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Dr. Betta Edu, from office immediately.
The suspension was revealed in a statement issued by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale.
He said it was in line with Tinubu’s avowed commitment to uphold the highest standards of integrity, transparency, and accountability in the management of the commonwealth of Nigerians.
The President also directed the Executive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC to conduct a thorough investigation into all aspects of the financial transactions involving the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, as well as one or more agencies thereunder.
Meanwhile, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC has invited the suspended Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Betta Edu, to its headquarters in Abuja over an alleged N585M scandal.
The anti-graft agency invited Edu to its headquarters following the directive from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ordering her suspension and investigation.
Earlier today, the suspended Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Betta Edu, has been denied access to see President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
According to TVC, the suspended minister was not allowed to meet with the President a few minutes after her suspension from office was announced by the presidential spokesman, Ajuri Ngelale
