Tinubu Visits Benue Over Mass Killings, Pledges Federal Support

President Bola Tinubu has visited Benue State in response to the recent wave of mass killings that left dozens dead in Logo and Ukum local government areas. The visit comes amid rising public outcry and concerns over persistent insecurity in the region.

Speaking during the visit, Tinubu condemned the attacks, describing them as “senseless and brutal,” and assured affected communities that the Federal Government would take decisive action to restore peace and security.

“We cannot allow violence to continue to steal lives and destroy our communities. The Federal Government stands with the people of Benue,” Tinubu said.

The President’s message was delivered by National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu, who met with state leaders and victims’ families in Makurdi. He reaffirmed Tinubu’s commitment to strengthening security operations and ensuring that those behind the attacks are brought to justice.

According to voice of  the people (voptv) Tinubu ordered immediate security reinforcements across vulnerable parts of the state and directed top security chiefs to review current strategies. He also emphasized the need for stronger federal-state collaboration and urged community leaders to support peacebuilding efforts.

This marks the President’s most direct engagement with the Benue crisis since assuming office, following criticism over delays in addressing the escalating violence in the North-Central region.
