Tinubu’s Wife warns women: Ignoring this could be dangerous to your health

Abuja — Nigeria’s First Lady, Sen. Oluremi Tinubu, has called on women across the country to prioritise their health by undergoing regular medical checkups and screenings, especially during the ongoing Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

The Voice of the People (VOP) reports that October is globally recognised as Breast Cancer Awareness Month, dedicated to raising awareness and supporting campaigns aimed at prevention, early detection, and research into the disease.

In a message issued on Monday in Abuja, Mrs Tinubu, who is also the Chairman of the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI) — a charitable organisation — emphasised the importance of proactive healthcare among women.

“As women, mothers, sisters, and daughters, our health must remain a priority. Early detection saves lives — regular self-examination and timely medical screening are key in the fight against breast cancer,” she said.

The First Lady urged Nigerians to use the period to support survivors and promote awareness initiatives, stressing the collective responsibility to safeguard women’s wellbeing.

“This month, let us raise awareness, support survivors, and encourage one another to take proactive steps for better health,” she added.
“Let us work together to stay healthy. Happy Breast Cancer Awareness Month 2025.”
