The Tinubu Media Volunteers (TMV) on Monday commended the Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Mr. Dele Alake, for revitalizing Nigeria’s mining sector and unlocking its economic potential.
In a statement issued by its Chairman, Mr. Chukwudi Enekwechi, TMV praised Alake for breathing new life into a sector that had long underperformed despite its importance to national development.
“Before Mr. Alake’s appointment, the ministry was largely inactive and recorded minimal achievements. However, under his leadership, it has become a vibrant and result-oriented agency,” the statement read.
The group highlighted the ministry’s alignment with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, noting that the reforms being implemented point to a promising future for the mining sector.
TMV also lauded the ministry’s efforts in boosting revenue generation, stating that such progress lays the groundwork for sustainable economic development and youth employment.
“With improved regulation and enforcement, we believe the solid minerals sector can significantly contribute to Nigeria’s Gross Domestic Product,” TMV noted.
The group pointed to the establishment of the Mining Marshals — the ministry’s enforcement wing — as a key step in restoring order and accountability in the sector.
“We consider the generation of N6.7 billion from mining license fees a remarkable achievement and a testament to the sector’s potential under transparent and focused leadership,” the statement added.
TMV expressed confidence that with continued commitment, the solid minerals sector would become a cornerstone of Nigeria’s economic transformation.
