Oyi, Anambra – Traders and stakeholders at the Allied Building Materials Market, Oyi, have refuted claims that their shops were sealed without an alternative location.

Addressing journalists at a press conference, the market chairman, Mr. Ejike Ignatius, clarified that traders had agreed to relocate by January 31, 2025, as the former site had become inadequate for their businesses. He emphasized that shops are available at the new site for all members who have completed their levies.
Former Chairman of the Iron Dealers Union, Chief Nnaemeka Onuzilike, stated that only a small faction of union members at the Harbour Industrial Layout, Atani Road, were resisting the relocation. He noted that over a hundred shops had been provided for them.
Reinforcing this position, the current Chairman of the Iron Dealers Union, Chief Evaristus Ejezie, alongside the Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Mr. Simon Nsofor, and stakeholder Chief Mark Ezepue, explained that the government had ordered the sealing of the old market site. They urged all traders to move to the new location at Nteje, where business activities are already in full swing.
