The Olota of Ota in Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Area of Ogun State, Oba Adeyemi Obalenlega, has called on both the Federal and State Governments to provide an enabling environment for industries to thrive in the area.
Speaking in an interview with the Voice of the people (VOP) on Monday in Ota, the monarch said the town’s vast industrial base has the capacity to significantly boost the nation’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP).
Obalenlega noted that Ota is home to one of the largest concentrations of industries in Nigeria, with over 500 registered companies in manufacturing, agro-processing, pharmaceuticals, packaging, food and beverages, among others.
He urged governments at all levels to prioritise infrastructural development such as road rehabilitation, reliable power supply, modern logistics, and business-friendly policies to support the growth of industries in the town.
“With proper infrastructure, targeted business incentives, and sustained investor confidence, the Ota industrial belt can play a major role in driving GDP growth, job creation, skill development, and economic diversification,” the Olota said.
He added that Ota’s strategic location as Nigeria’s southwestern entry point positions it as a natural gateway to West Africa, bridging the country’s largest commercial capital with the wider subregion.
