Shanxi Province, China – July 30, 2025
At least 10 people have died and several others injured after a bus veered off the road and crashed in northern China’s Shanxi Province, local authorities confirmed on Tuesday.
The accident happened early in the morning along a mountainous stretch of highway near the city of Linfen. According to police and rescue teams, the bus, which was carrying more than 30 passengers, lost control on a sharp curve and plunged into a ditch.
Emergency responders arrived quickly at the scene to rescue survivors and provide medical care. Several injured passengers were rushed to nearby hospitals, with some reported to be in critical condition.
Local officials have launched an investigation to find out what caused the crash. Early reports suggest that the bus may have been speeding or experiencing brake failure, but authorities say they will confirm the facts after a full safety inspection.
The driver of the bus survived and is currently assisting police with the investigation.
This tragic accident has left families grieving and communities in shock. Public transportation is widely used in China, especially in rural and mountainous areas where road conditions can be challenging. Experts say this crash is a reminder of the importance of road safety checks, proper driver training, and strict enforcement of transport laws.
“We must make sure that people can travel safely — whether they are going to work, school, or visiting loved ones,” said one local transport official.
The loss of 10 lives in the Shanxi bus crash is a painful reminder of the risks people still face on the road. As investigations continue, the focus now is on supporting the victims’ families and preventing similar tragedies in the future.
