The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) says Nigerian troops have intensified operations across the country, killing several terrorists, arresting 85 suspects, and rescuing 66 kidnap victims in the past week.
Major General Edward Buba, Director of Defence Media Operations, disclosed this in a statement, noting that the operations targeted terrorist enclaves, bandit hideouts, and criminal networks across the North-East, North-West, and other troubled regions.
According to him, troops also recovered assorted weapons, ammunition, and logistics supplies used by insurgents to sustain attacks.
General Buba said the successes reflect ongoing efforts to “neutralise criminal elements, restore peace, and protect law-abiding citizens.” He added that rescued victims have been reunited with their families after receiving medical care.
The DHQ urged communities to continue providing credible intelligence to security forces, stressing that cooperation between citizens and the military remains key in defeating insecurity nationwide.
