Awka, February 19, 2025 — The Speaker of the Anambra State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Somtochukwu Udeze, has expressed deep concern over the escape of two suspects arrested in connection with the murder of late Hon. Justice Azuka of Onitsha One State Constituency.
In a statement issued today, the Speaker reacted to a press release by the State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, which confirmed that the suspects fled during an operation to apprehend a receiver and recover the vehicles used in their criminal activities.
Describing the development as unfortunate, Udeze commended the police for their efforts so far but insisted that the escaped suspects must be tracked down and rearrested. He called on the State Commissioner of Police to intensify efforts in ensuring that the fugitives are brought to justice.
“The State Police should immediately declare them wanted and publish their full names, addresses, and photographs to enlist public support in locating them,” Udeze stated.
Reaffirming the Assembly’s commitment to justice, the Speaker vowed that the late Hon. Justice Azuka would not die in vain.
