Youths of Umuatulu Ifiteani village in Enugwu-Ukwu, Njikoka Local Government Area, have called on the Anambra State government to direct security operatives of Operation Udo Ga-Chi to investigate one of their kinsmen, whom they accuse of complicity in various crimes within the community.
The protest, which took place at the palace of the traditional ruler, Igwe Ralph Ekpeh, was led by Barrister Ralph Okonkwo. During the demonstration, Okonkwo alleged that Mr. Ebele Ngini forcefully took over the leadership of the village in June 2024. He further claimed that after seizing control, Ngini unlawfully collected firearms from the local vigilante group and dismantled all CCTV cameras installed in the community.
Responding to the protest, Igwe Ekpeh acknowledged that an investigation into Ngini’s activities had already been conducted, with recommendations made. He assured the protesters that the law would take its due course.
In a phone interview with our correspondent, Mr. Ngini denied all allegations, dismissing them as a conspiracy against him.
The situation has drawn attention within the community, with many awaiting further government action on the matter.
