The All Progressives Congress (APC) held its National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting at the party’s National Secretariat in Abuja under tight security. Despite the presence of key figures, including President Bola Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, and several state governors, notable absentees included former President Muhammadu Buhari, ex-Kaduna Governor Nasir El-Rufai, and former Minister of Transport Rotimi Amaechi.
The meeting, presided over by APC National Chairman Abdullahi Ganduje, was the first since Tinubu took office in May 2023. It followed a national caucus meeting at the Presidential Villa the previous day. Some party members, including El-Rufai and ex-National Vice Chairman Salihu Lukman, have raised concerns about internal democracy, hinting at tensions within the party.
