The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State on Thursday announced the sudden death of its newly elected Assistant Publicity Secretary, Yesiro Karamo, hours before his planned inauguration.
The party confirmed his death in a statement issued by its Publicity Secretary, Seye Oladejo.
Mr Karamo was elected by consensus at the party’s state congress held at Mobolaji Johnson Stadium in Onikan, Lagos.
The state leadership chaired the congress under the supervision of party chairman Cornelius Ojelabi.
His inauguration alongside other elected state executive members was scheduled to be held at the Lagos APC Secretariat.
Committed party member
The statement described Mr Karamo as a committed party member who contributed to the APC’s growth and stability in Lagos.
“It is with profound shock and deep sorrow that we received the news of his sudden demise,” the party said.
It added: “He embodied dedication, loyalty and an unwavering belief in the progressive ideals of our party.”
The party said Mr Karamo’s enthusiasm and service left a strong impression on colleagues.
“Though his tenure was tragically cut short, his contributions will not be forgotten,” the statement read.
Party members expressed sadness over the development and described it as a huge loss at a time when the new leadership was preparing to assume office.
Mr Karamo emerged as Assistant Publicity Secretary during the recent state congress, where positions were filled through consensus.
His death comes before the formal installation of the new state executive committee.
