Several Nigerian women have been captured on video weeping uncontrollably after allegedly losing millions of naira to CBEX, a digital trading platform that has reportedly crashed.
According to multiple reports, users began facing difficulties withdrawing their funds before the platform became completely inaccessible. Many investors later discovered that their account balances had been wiped clean, with some reporting their dashboards now show zero funds.
CBEX had marketed itself as a high-yield investment platform, luring users with promises of a 100% return on investment within just one month. Notably, the platform operated strictly in U.S. dollars, adding an air of legitimacy and international appeal to its operations.
The collapse has sparked outrage and heartbreak, particularly among female investors, many of whom shared emotional testimonies online. In one widely shared video, several women are seen crying and lamenting the loss of their hard-earned money.
The incident has added to growing concerns about the rise of unregulated digital investment schemes in Nigeria.
