Labour Party presidential candidate in the 2023 elections, Peter Obi, has warned Nigerians against vote-buying, describing it as a form of corruption that undermines democracy and the nation’s future.
Obi, speaking at a public event on Monday, said citizens must resist politicians who attempt to exchange money or material gifts for votes, stressing that such acts only entrench bad governance.
When you sell your vote, you sell your future. Vote-buying is corruption in its purest form, and it robs us of competent leadership,” Obi said.
He urged Nigerians, especially the youth, to embrace integrity and hold leaders accountable through the ballot box rather than succumbing to financial inducements during elections.
