Iran’s powerful military body, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, has vowed to kill Israel’s Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, amid escalating hostilities between Iran, Israel and the United States.

The threat was issued on Sunday, in a statement published on Sepah News, the official website of the Revolutionary Guards, following widespread social media rumours claiming that Mr Netanyahu had been killed.

In the statement, the Revolutionary Guards vowed to pursue the Israeli leader.
“If this child-killing criminal is alive, we will continue to pursue and kill him with full force,” the statement said.

The claim comes amid online speculation over Mr Netanyahu’s alleged death, which was quickly dismissed by the Israel Defense Forces and other Israeli authorities.

The latest threat comes as tensions remain high following the killing of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei.

On Friday, 28 February 2026, Israel and the United States launched coordinated airstrikes on several cities and strategic facilities across Iran.

The attacks reportedly killed Mr Khamenei and several senior Iranian officials, triggering a sharp escalation in the conflict.

In response, Iran launched multiple missile and drone strikes targeting Israel, United States military bases and allied installations across the region.

Casualties recorded

The conflict has continued to intensify, causing casualties on both sides and triggering global economic concerns as crude oil prices surge due to fears of prolonged instability in the Middle East.

Israeli authorities say dozens of people have been injured in recent attacks linked to the ongoing hostilities.

According to the Israeli Health Ministry, 108 injured individuals were admitted to hospitals within the past 24 hours.

Among them, two were reported to be in moderate condition while 96 were in good condition. Nine others were treated for anxiety-related symptoms.

The ministry added that since the outbreak of the conflict on Friday, 28 February 2026, a total of 3,195 people have been admitted to hospitals across Israel.

Of those currently hospitalized, one person is in critical condition, nine are in serious condition, ten are in moderate condition and 60 are in stable condition.

 International Response

Meanwhile, United States President Donald Trump, said Iran had indicated willingness to negotiate with Washington over the crisis.

Speaking in a telephone interview with NBC News on Saturday, Mr Trump said the United States was not yet ready to reach an agreement.

“Iran wants to make a deal with us,” Mr Trump said. “But the terms aren’t good enough yet.”

The US president declined to disclose the conditions being discussed and also questioned whether Iran’s newly appointed supreme leader was still alive.

Mr Trump further said it remained unclear whether Iran had deployed mines in the strategically important Strait of Hormuz.

Security Developments

Authorities in Iran have also reported arrests linked to the ongoing conflict.

According to the Tasnim News Agency, at least 20 people were arrested for allegedly attempting to cooperate with Israel.

Prosecutors in West Azerbaijan province said the suspects were accused of providing Israel with location details of Iranian military and security installations.

Meanwhile, Israeli forces have reportedly launched a new phase of operations targeting Iranian security checkpoints, relying on intelligence provided by informants on the ground.

Background

The confrontation between Iran, Israel and the United States represents one of the most serious escalations in the Middle East in recent years.

Analysts warn that the conflict could further destabilise the region and deepen global economic uncertainty if hostilities continue to expand.
