West African Elders’ Forum has deployed a pre-election mediation team to Nigeria to interface with major political actors and key stakeholders ahead of the general elections billed to commence in February next year.
The information was revealed via a statement by the Communications Officer of the Goodluck Jonathan Foundation, Wealth Ominabo today.
According to the statement, the mission is led by a former Sierra Leone President, Ernest Bai Koroma.
The team includes dignitaries which are; former Special Representative of the Secretary General of the United Nations and Head of the United Nations Office for West Africa and the Sahel (UNOWAS).
The statement further noted that the team will have strategic engagements with political actors and key stakeholders during the visit.
The Forum however embarked on a mediation mission in Gambia and will be doing the same in Sierra Leone ahead of the country’s general election in 2023.
