Intelligence agencies from Niger, Mali, and Burkina Faso have announced plans to release the names of senior Nigerian politicians allegedly supporting bandit groups operating in the country’s North-West region.
Security analyst Zagazola Makama reported that officials from the agencies revealed they are already in possession of the names of some politicians suspected of aiding the criminal networks. The officials further disclosed that several individuals involved in supplying arms to the bandits have been arrested, with investigations currently ongoing.
According to the agencies, the planned disclosure is part of a broader regional strategy to dismantle cross-border criminal organizations that fuel insecurity across West Africa.
This development highlights the increasing security cooperation among Sahelian states, particularly in efforts to curb armed groups and disrupt illicit arms trafficking across shared borders.
