Why Atiku Met Kwankwaso In Abuja – NNPP

The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) has revealed why former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and an ex-governor of Kano State, Rabiu Kwankwaso, met in Abuja on Tuesday night.

Recall that Atiku was the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the just concluded 2023 general election. Kwankwaso, on the other hand, was the presidential candidate of the NNPP.

While Atiku approached the court seeking the removal of the declared winner, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Kwankwaso refused to challenge the election.

In a post on Tuesday, Kwankwaso, a former Kano State Governor, disclosed that Atiku paid him a visit at his residence in Abuja.

Giving more details about the meeting between the duo, a chieftain of the NNPP and spokesman for the party’s 2023 Presidential Campaign Council, Ladipo Johnson, said Kwankwaso and Atiku share similar national values and aspirations, despite being in different political parties.

He told The PUNCH: “They believe in the unity of the country, and that is exactly what brought them together on Tuesday. They met in Kwankwaso’s residence, and they discussed the general state of affairs of the nation.

“You know the situation in the country is such that leaders who care about this country need to speak up. Apart from the affairs of the nation, they also discussed the situation in Niger and the best possible way to go about it, considering the action already taken by the military junta in that country.

“Politics is over; it is time to discuss the nation because without Nigeria first, none of us can play politics. Both men believe that Nigeria can be better. This is a belief they have both worked for in the past in their various and individual capacities.”
