The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) confirmed it arrested social media activist VeryDarkMan (Martins Otse) following several petitions accusing him of cyberbullying, threats, and harassment—potential violations of Nigeria’s Cybercrimes Act
.
His arrest also came shortly after he accused the EFCC of accepting a ₦15 million bribe from Bobrisky to drop money laundering charges. Both individuals were reportedly invited for questioning.
VDM claims the arrest is politically motivated, saying he’s being targeted for criticizing the EFCC and its leadership. As of now, he hasn’t been formally charged, and investigations are ongoing.
