For the third time, Governor Alex Otti has extended an invitation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, yet the President has declined to visit.
1️⃣ March 2024 – The President was invited to commission Aba Power and newly constructed roads. Instead, Vice President Kashim Shettima attended on his behalf.
2️⃣ May 23, 2025 – He was scheduled to commission the Port Harcourt Road and flag off the $1.3 billion Abia Medical City. Once again, he was absent.
3️⃣ October 3, 2025 (Today) – A major event was prepared: the official flag-off of the $1.3 billion Abia Medical City, commissioning of 13 completed roads, and inauguration of the rebuilt Michael Ọkpara Auditorium. Yet again, the President was absent—this time represented by Minister of Works, Engr. Dave Umahi. Shockingly, no formal communication was given to the Governor beforehand.
This recurring pattern has raised questions.
Is the President deliberately sidelining Abia’s progress under Governor Otti? Is it connected to sensitive political issues, perhaps even the Nnamdi Kanu question?
Regardless of the reason, one fact remains: Ndi Abia and the wider Igbo community hold Dr. Alex Otti in high regard. His transformative leadership is visible across the state, and many believe his re-election in 2027 is certain.
Even without a presidential presence, the people of Abia continue to celebrate and support the remarkable changes reshaping their state. 💪
