Why PDP’s North-Central Zone Is Angry Over Damagum’s Suspension

Similarly, the PDP National Ex-Officio Forum condemned what it described as an unlawful invasion of the PDP National Secretariat, Wadata Plaza, Abuja, by Senator Anyanwu and his supporters.

In a joint statement signed by Clement Faboyede, Chairman of the forum, and Mrs. Hassan Comfort, Secretary, the group said the incident was a reckless display of political lawlessness and an affront to democratic principles.

“What transpired at the Wadata Plaza was not just an attack on individuals but an attempt to desecrate the sanctity of an institution built on decades of sacrifice, vision, and democratic commitment,” the forum stated.

The forum described the actions of the faction as anti-party activities and a violation of the PDP constitution, reaffirming its total allegiance to Damagun as the legitimate National Chairman.

“We stand firm and unshaken behind Damagun, an emblem of stability, inclusiveness, and credible leadership. Under his watch, the PDP has continued to pursue peace, reconciliation, and reform,” the statement read.

The forum urged all party members and stakeholders nationwide to remain calm, focused, and united, expressing confidence that truth, justice, and the rule of law would prevail over impunity and disorder.

It also called on security agencies and relevant authorities to safeguard the party’s national institutions and ensure that those responsible for the invasion are held accountable.

PDP Youth Leaders Back Abdulrahman Mohammed

In a contrasting position, the Forum of PDP Youth Leaders across the 36 states and the FCT expressed support for Abdulrahman Mohammed, whom they described as youth-friendly and reform-oriented.

Spokesperson of the group, Jamilu Ali, said the youth leaders welcomed Mohammed’s emergence and pledged to support him in resolving ongoing disputes within the party.

“We are happy to have this kind of person, most of all as a youth. We agreed to give him our full support to stabilise the party, bring all warring factions to the table, and create a good working environment for the PDP to thrive,” Ali said.

He also appealed to party stakeholders to sheath their swords and cooperate with the new leadership, insisting that “no party constitution is above the Nigerian constitution.”

In a brief remark, the Secretary of the Forum, Comrade Brian Odion from Cross River State, downplayed the existence of factions within the PDP, maintaining that the party remains one united entity.

“We believe PDP is one. But all I can tell you is, we are on the side of those calling for the party to do the right thing. Whoever is saying that, we support them,” he added.
