NNPC Limited Restructuring: New Leadership Appointments and Board Composition
In a significant move to enhance operational efficiency and restore investor confidence, NNPC Limited has dissolved its board and implemented a major restructuring.
As part of these changes, President Bola Tinubu appointed Bayo Ojulari,
a former Shell executive, as the new Group Chief Executive Officer (GCEO) of NNPC Limited. Ojulari previously served as the Managing Director of Shell Nigeria Exploration and Production Company (SNEPCo) from 2015 to 2021. Additionally, Ahmadu Musa Kida has been named the non-executive chairman of the board.
The newly constituted 11-member board includes six non-executive directors, each representing one of Nigeria’s geopolitical zones:
-
Bello Rabiu (North West)
-
Yusuf Usman (North East)
-
Babs Omotowa (North Central)
-
Austin Avuru (South South)
-
David Ige (South West)
-
Henry Obih (South East)
Furthermore, Mrs. Lydia Shehu Jafiya, the permanent secretary of the Federal Ministry of Finance, will represent the ministry on the board, while Aminu Said Ahmed will serve as the representative of the Ministry of Petroleum Resources.
These reforms align with President Tinubu’s broader strategy to revamp Nigeria’s oil sector, with a focus on increasing oil production and improving the country’s refining capacity.
