Worker Killed as Soldiers Clash With Government Enforcement Team in Ogun State

Tragedy struck in Ogun State after a worker attached to the state’s planning authority was shot dead during an enforcement operation along the Sagamu–Abeokuta Expressway in the Orile-Imo area.

The victim, identified as a member of the enforcement team from the Ogun State Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development, was reportedly part of an operation to remove illegal structures when the incident occurred. According to eyewitness accounts, the team encountered military personnel at the site, leading to a tense confrontation.

Sources said the situation escalated after the soldiers allegedly ordered the officials to halt the demolition exercise. In the confusion that followed, gunshots were fired, and the worker was struck. He was later rushed to a nearby medical facility, where he was confirmed dead.

The Ogun State Government has condemned the incident, describing the killing as unfortunate and unacceptable. Officials assured the public that a thorough investigation would be carried out to determine the circumstances surrounding the shooting and to ensure that those responsible are held accountable.

The Ogun State Police Command also confirmed that an investigation is underway. Authorities have appealed for calm while security agencies work to uncover the facts of the case.

The tragic development has sparked concerns about coordination between security agencies and civil enforcement bodies during official operations.
