WORSENING INSECURITY: DEFENCE MINISTER, SERVICE CHIEFS MEET TO REVIEW SECURITY STRATEGIES

Amid escalating security challenges across Nigeria, the Minister of Defence, Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, on Tuesday held a high-level operational briefing with the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, and other Service Chiefs to assess and reinforce current security efforts.

The meeting, according to a statement issued by the minister’s media aide, Mati Ali, provided the Defence Minister with a detailed update on the security situation across the country, as well as insights into the operational hurdles confronting the Armed Forces.

The briefing highlighted ongoing strategic efforts by the military to address a range of security threats, including insurgency, banditry, kidnapping, and communal conflicts. Specific attention was given to developments in the South-East, North-East, North-West, and North Central regions—particularly Plateau State—where security threats have intensified.

Ali noted that the discussions focused on bolstering military operations, improving intelligence gathering and coordination, strengthening inter-agency cooperation, and ensuring the efficient deployment of resources to troubled areas.

The minister reaffirmed the government’s commitment to restoring peace and stability, assuring that security agencies would receive the support needed to deliver on their mandate.
