The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Yobe State University (YSU) chapter, has reaffirmed that its ongoing strike—initiated on July 11—has not been suspended.
In a statement released on Monday in Damaturu, the chapter chairman, Dr. Ahmed Karage, clarified that while the state government had implemented the N70,000 minimum wage adjustment in July, other key demands remain unresolved.
Karage listed the outstanding issues to include:

Implementation of academic staff promotions as approved by the university council

Payment of promotion arrears from 2018 to 2025

Arrears of minimum wage consequential adjustments from 2019 to 2024

Payment of the 35–25% salary award for professors and other academic ranks from 2023 to 2025

Arrears of the ₦70,000 minimum wage from January 2024 to June 2025
He urged the public to bear with the union and assured that the strike would be called off once a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) is signed with the state government.
