Young entrepreneurs at the Nkwelle Ezunaka Shoe Manufacturing Market have called on the Anambra State government to provide modern machinery to enhance the production of locally made shoes.
Speaking with journalists, a shoemaker, Mr. Miracle Ojike, emphasized that improved equipment would significantly boost the quality and durability of locally manufactured footwear, making them more competitive in the market. He noted that many skilled artisans still rely on manual production methods, which slow down output and limit their growth potential.
Similarly, Miss Uju Obiadi stressed the need for government intervention, stating that access to advanced machines would enable local shoemakers to produce high-quality footwear that could rival imported brands.
She further appealed to the government and relevant agencies to invest in the shoemaking industry, highlighting that such support would not only enhance productivity but also create employment opportunities and contribute to the state’s economic development.
