On the eve of the third anniversary of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, President Volodymyr Zelensky has announced that he is willing to step down if it ensures Ukraine’s admission into the NATO military alliance.
Zelensky, who has long pushed for Ukraine’s NATO membership as part of efforts to end the war, made the statement on Sunday. His remarks come amid increasing criticism from the new U.S. administration.
The Ukrainian leader also expressed his desire to meet with U.S. President Donald Trump before Trump’s anticipated meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
This development marks a significant shift in Ukraine’s diplomatic strategy as Kyiv continues to seek stronger security guarantees from Western allies.
