Stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress in Nasarawa State have staged a solidarity rally in support of Senator Ahmed Aliyu Wadada’s governorship ambition ahead of the 2027 elections.

The rally, described as a massive show of support, took place in Lafia on Monday, with party faithful marching to the APC state secretariat and Government House.

Addressing the crowd, Chairman of the Wadada Ambassadors, Zaidu Aliyu Tanko, expressed confidence in the senator’s leadership capacity, citing his experience and vision for the state.

“Senator Ahmed Aliyu Wadada possesses the requisite skills and experience to lead Nasarawa State towards sustainable growth and prosperity. His passion for service, integrity, and ability to connect with diverse groups make him an ideal candidate,” he said.

Tanko added that the group had submitted a letter of recommendation to the party leadership, urging them to consider Wadada as the most qualified aspirant to sustain the legacies of Governor Abdullahi Sule beyond 2027.

Senator Wadada currently represents Nasarawa West Senatorial District at the National Assembly under the APC platform.

Call for unity

Receiving the supporters, Nasarawa APC Chairman, Aliyu Bello, urged party members to maintain unity and avoid divisive rhetoric as preparations for the governorship race intensify.

“I want to commend the Wadada Ambassadors for their civility sincerely… Sell your candidate without insulting other aspirants,” Mr Bello said.

He emphasised that unity remains critical for the party’s chances of retaining power in the state.

Mr Bello reiterated the party’s resolve to sustain its leadership in Nasarawa beyond 2027, noting that all aspirants and their supporters must work together regardless of internal contests.

“The APC wants to maintain power in Nasarawa State in 2027 and beyond… We are all partners in progress,” he added.

He also highlighted ongoing developmental strides under Governor Sule, particularly in transforming Lafia into a modern city.

Political momentum

Supporters at the rally described Wadada as a strong contender, citing his contributions to infrastructure, education, and youth empowerment across the state’s 13 local government areas.

They called on party members and residents to rally behind his candidacy to ensure the continuity of development.
